I have known Suzanne since she first arrived in Chicago in 1986 and am thrilled she is now in the Bay Area. Over the years I have watched her designs evolve, her materials refine and her aesthetic expand. That said, I still have some of the first earrings I ever purchased and I wear them regularly. She has an eye for classic, wearable designs that stand the test of time. Recently, Suzanne remade a pair of my favorite earrings to add a touch of color using a shade of Swarovski crystal that was not even in production when she first made the earrings. It was a joy to have a fresh take on an old favorite. Suzanne has a great eye for color and always adds surprising touches to her designs to make them more versatile. I own 37 pairs of Suzanne's earrings, and I bought every one of them!  Why's that important?  Because I'm her mom.  In 1989, when she started making jewelry as Ears to You, the precursor to EssieB, I couldn't believe she was going to make me pay for them.  Sure, they were exquisitely designed, beautifully made and in colors that were always just perfect.  I could have sparkle when I wanted it, understated when I wanted that and sporty when I wanted to wear jeans.  Explaining she was starting a serious business. Note From Suzanne - This was such a scary choice for me to make at the time. Who makes their Mom actually buy their earrings? However, if I gave earrings to my Mother, I’d want to give them to my best girlfriends and what about my Aunt… and Cousins… Sister-in-law. Where would it stop? I sensed I would not be able to draw the line. So I drew it where I could and still remember vividly how challenging it was.
